About us
Tom is a South London based solo filmmaker and photographer with over 30 years' experience in broadcast and corporate video production.
As the driving force behind Shoot Video Productions, he now brings that expertise to the education sector, offering a flexible, budget-conscious service.
“As a parent, I was asked by my son's school to produce short promotional videos and photograph school events — and I always found them fascinating projects to work on. I loved the challenge of conveying key information about a school while also capturing a genuine flavour of what it's actually like to be there. That experience inspired me to set up Shoot Video Productions.
Choosing a school is both a head and a heart decision for parents. A good school video should make that decision easier — putting the parent right at the heart of the school setting, so they can picture their child there.”
Tom Coburn, Director — Shoot Video ProductionsHow We Work
Video Production
- We start by understanding your goals, audience, and what you want to capture — with a free, no-obligation call or video meeting.
- Once agreed, we build a detailed plan covering style, length, key messages, interviewees and locations, then share a shooting schedule and confirm filming dates.
- On the day, we work discreetly and professionally, putting anyone on camera at ease, and capture the shots that bring the school day to life.
- We edit to an agreed deadline — adding music, graphics and subtitles if needed — send a draft for review, make final revisions, and deliver securely in your required format.
Photography
- We start by discussing how the photos will be used — website, prospectus, or in-house displays — and agree a wishlist of shots, locations and a shoot date.
- On the day, we work discreetly, professionally and creatively, including setup shots that convey the school's flavour without showing faces where needed.
- Afterwards, we select and edit the best images to your size and format requirements, then deliver via a secure download link.
Why Video Matters for Your School
First impressions happen online
For most prospective parents, your school's website is the very first "open day." A well-made film or photography set shapes whether a family books a visit at all — the schools that show, not just tell, their story stand out.
Video is a return on investment
A single professionally produced prospectus film pays for itself many times over if it helps convert even a handful of extra applications — and it works around the clock, on your website, at open evenings, and across social media.
Content that keeps working
A strong film and photography library typically stays fresh for two to three years, quietly doing its job on your website and in your prospectus while your team focuses on running the school.
Authenticity sells better than polish
Families can spot a stock-photo prospectus a mile off. What builds trust is seeing real classrooms, real staff and a real headteacher speaking directly to camera.
